COURTNEY LOVE: Watching KURT COBAIN Documentary Was 'Healing Experience'
April 17, 2015According to The Pulse Of Radio, Courtney Love said in an interview with V magazine that watching the new documentary about her late husband, "Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck", with her daughter Frances was a "very healing" experience. Love said: "To see [the film] in that room with my daughter was very cathartic and I was very happy to spend a little time with him and to find out, to see things and hear audio, and see into his heart."
Love added: "It was an important moment of bonding between Frances and me, and I think it's very healing for our family and for our relationship. Many people who've suffered the after-effects of suicide, and in Frances's case, like any child of suicide, she wondered what part she played in it and why wasn't she important enough? I think the film points out that absolutely, without a doubt, from whatever age it is that he starts talking about it, that that was where he was headed."
Love also discussed her relationship with the late NIRVANA frontman, saying, "It fucked me up. I remembered the sexual relationship, which, as you know, is the core of any good marriage. It almost rendered other intimacies meaningless."
The HOLE singer and occasional actress continued, "I don't have a boyfriend right now, so I'm single. (The film) made me really evaluate what, at the age of 50, I want out of a relationship. He's a hard act to follow. I love him and I always will."
Frances, who is an executive producer on the film, told Rolling Stone that she and her mother watched it in a private screening room, with Frances sitting in Love's lap the entire time.
"Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck" has been screening in limited theatrical release and will premiere on HBO on May 4.
The film relies less on straight documentary reporting and is constructed more like a collage of previously unseen home movies, interviews, animation, photographs and other artifacts, all accompanied by Cobain's music.
